Memorial services for William L. “Bill” Dunn will be Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison with Father Bernard Berger officiating.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the church.
Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Harrison.
A memorial has been established for the Harrison Rescue Unit, who was so good to him in his final months. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Mr. Dunn passed away on January 2, 2012 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford. He was 81.
William L (Bill) Dunn was born October 19, 1930, with the assistance of a midwife, in Crawford, NE the first of five children, to Lester and Irene (York) Dunn. He grew up north of Harrison and attended rural schools in SiouxCounty. He graduated from SiouxCountyHigh School with the class of 1948.
After high school he moved to Redding, CA working as a fire fighter in the forest. He returned to SiouxCounty working for Ray York. On June 6, 1955 he married his lifelong partner, Eva Mae Shaeffer. To this union five children were born: William Joseph, (B.J.), Richard Lee, David Lester, Robert Lloyd (Pete), and the surprise of the bunch, Lesa Marie.
They spent the first years of their marriage working for Lloyd and Clara Story, then moved back to Harrison working for Herren Brothers. A few years later they moved to Scottsbluff where Bill worked for Magnolia Mobile Homes. After the Anderson family suffered the loss of the three men in the family they called Bill to ask him to come back and run their ranch north of Harrison. Bill and his family spent nine years there. When the two oldest boys started high school they moved back to Harrison and he went to work for Bill Didier at the Standard Station while building hay sweeps at night with his brother Don. After a couple of years he started a construction business and was known as THE carpenter/handyman of SiouxCounty. He was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, cement worker – there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix.
Due to poor health he was forced to give up his handyman work but did continue to do what he was able. He was a Master Gardener and in later years baked bread, rolls, fruit cake and was known by his family for the best Cinnamon Biscuits around.
He is survived by his loving family – wife of 57 years Eva, sons BJ (Cheryl), Rich, Dave (Karen), Pete, and daughter Lesa (Jerry). Grandchildren – Mark Dunn, Matt Dunn, Kelsey (Justin) Didier, Cora (Matt) Rocha, Alissa Dunn and fiancé’ John Mitzelfelt, Kayla Dunn, Jonny Dunn, James (Sarah)Dunn, Jasmine (Eric) Schmidt, Aspen Domingo and her fiancé Patrick Stephens, Evan Domingo, Lindsay Dunn, Josh (Danielle) Woods, Shannon Woods and fiancé’ George Simmons, Zach Bell, and Mariah Bell. Great Grandchildren Tyson, Gage, Spencer, and Brandt Didier, Aaliyah, Ross, and Jason Dunn, Leila Stephens, Braydon and Aaliyah Woods, Nikki, Joel, and Skyler Woods and Nikki’s children Mo, Sunny, and Maddison.
He is also survived by his brothers Pat and Evelyn Dunn and Lloyd and Carol Dunn, brother-in-law Chet Dickson and wife Carla, sister-in-law Margaret Dunn, brother-in-laws Bob Sevier and Jim Sevier, sister-in-law Jan Jamison, his special Aunt Mabel Umphenhour, and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Jane, brother Don, niece Kim and daughter-in-law Vicky Dunn.
