01/21/2012 - Robert I. (Bob) Marshall

Funeral Services for Robert I. “Bob” Marshall, age 92, of Chadron will be Saturday, January 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Pastor Don Ludwick officiating.
 
Memorials have been established for Christ’s Community Church in Crawford, where the Marshalls were members, and the Dawes County 4-H program. They may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
 
He died Monday, Jan. 16 at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs.
 
Marshall was a lifelong rancher in Dawes County. He was born Oct. 3, 1919 to Benton and Gladys (Magary) Marshall near Old Dunlap in southeastern Dawes County.  The family moved to a ranch on the Table south of Chadron in 1920.
 
He married Jeanette Bushnell of Marsland on Jan. 1, 1941. As the Marshall ranch grew, Bob and his five brothers became partners. Bob and Jeanette moved from that ranch to a place five miles northeast of Chadron in the fall of 1956. They received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award in 1981 and were inducted into the Dawes County Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2002. 
 
Both Bob and Jeanette were deeply involved in church work and other Christian programs throughout their marriage. She died Nov. 13, 2003.
 
Bob also served on the Dawes County Weed Control Board and participated in team penning. He was selected trailboss of “Ride the Ridge” in 1996.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Meredith Brimmer; five brothers, Mervin “Slim,” Martin “Fuzz,” Alton, Gene and Dick; and two sisters, Erma Reamer and Frances Furman Chicoine.
 
Immediate Survivors:

Son: Con and his wife Peggy of Chadron, NE.
 
Daughters: Bobbi Augustine and husband David of Edgemont, SD; Sheryl Brost and husband Jim of Hot Springs, SD.
 
Grandchildren: 7
Great-Grandchildren: 17

Sisters-in-laws: Thelma of LaGrange, WY; Lena and Margaret, both of Chadron, NE.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Chamberlain-Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
