Funeral Services for John Paul Yellow Boy, age 30, of Scottsbluff, NE will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Acts Pentecostal Church in Scottsbluff, NE with Mr. Charles McGaa and Pastor Duane Wallace officiating.
A Prayer service will be Wednesday, January 18th from 2-4:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD, with a wake service starting Thursday, January 19th at 4:00 PM at the Lakota Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, NE until 10:00 PM.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, NE.

Daughter: Sahmara Navajo of Kayenta, AZ
Sisters: Alysa Yellow Boy and Keilly Iron Horse both of Scottsbluff, NE, and Denae Yellow Boy of Oglala, SD
Niece: Avaya Yellow Boy of Scottsbluff, NE
Aunts: Robin Carreon of Grand Island, NE, Haroldene Rodriguez of Scottsbluff, NE, Marry Mousseau, Theresa Claymore, and Lorraine Richards all of Pine Ridge, SD
Uncles: David Iron Horse, Sr. of Rapid City, SD, Norwood Iron Horse of Grand Island, NE, and Philip Yellow Boy of Pine Ridge, SD.
John Paul Yellow Boy born May 15, 1981, to Aloysius & Bonnie Yellow Boy in
Scottsbluff, Nebraska. John attended Scottsbluff Public Schools and earned his high school diploma in May 2000. He worked as a computer technician, at utility call
centers, magazine salesman, construction, roofing, field work and laundry service.
John loved camping, swimming, drawing, laughing and joking and spending time with friends and family. He always had something encouraging to say, and compliments to share. John was always helpful in every way he could, i.e. he always helped people move, he mowed lawns and scooped snow for people. He was always willing to help with whatever needed to be done at his church. John's passion was to attend and participate in pow-wows. He was an accomplished Traditional Dancer and proudly represented a community that was very proud of him also.
John was a proud father to Sahmara Navajo of Kayenta, Arizona. John was such a blessing to his mother, Bonnie Iron Horse Sanchez and his sisters, Alysa Yellow Boy, Keilly Iron Horse and Denae Yellow Boy. Avaya Yellow Boy, John's niece, was the apple of his eye.
In October 2007 John accepted a relationship and a promise of eternal life with
Jesus. He experienced a traumatic brain injury June 17, 2008, that left him totally
disabled. John was in a coma for 8 months. On February 14, 2009, he began blowing kisses to his mother, niece and sisters! Then, a week later, he began talking again when his first words were "I love you Mom". How excited we all were. John spoke of everyone and remembered many things including his social security number! We have been on an amazing journey with him. He experienced several 106.8 degree fevers that the doctors thought would kill him. He had pneumonia and other breathing issues that could've taken his life also but he continued to fight and always pulled through. We prayed together daily and often sang songs of encouragement for ourselves. John's favorite was a chorus: "In the Presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace. Troubles vanish, hearts are mended, in the Presence of the King." We believe John left us and is now experiencing the Shekinah Glory and agape Love of the One Who Saved him! His favorite verse was, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, sayeth the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11
John will be sadly, but not hopelessly, missed till we are reunited in our expect end.
