Funeral services for Darlene Ann Afraid of Bear, age 54, of Oglala, SD will be Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Loneman School Gym in Oglala, SD with Pastor Karen Rupp officiating.
A one night wake will begin Friday, March 9, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the St. John’s Episcopal Church North of Oglala, SD and moving to the Loneman School Gym at 4:00 PM for an all night wake service.
Burial will be at St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
Darlene Ann (Lame) Afraid of Bear was born on May 11, 1957 and was raised in Oglala, SD. She was born to John Lame, Jr. and Verna (Kindle) Lame. Her parents died when she was young, and she was raised by her grandparents, Bessie (Kindle) Crow. Darlene graduated from Brainerd Indian School in Hot Springs, SD. She attended United Tribes in Bismarck, ND, after finishing school Darlene worked as a Food Service Worker for various schools and other companies.

Granddaughters: Madison Rose Crow, Samantha Simmons, and Khloe Pipe On Head all of Oglala, SD
Sister: Aleta Morrison of Oglala, SD
Brothers: Robert Lame and Gerald Lame both of Oglala, SD

Parents: John Lame, Jr. and Verna Lame
Sisters: Nancy and Adele Lame
Grandparent: Bessie Crow
