Cecilia Ann Robertson was born on February 14, 1937 in Lowes Kentucky to Rev. John Cecil and Lorine B. Cecil. As the only child of a Methodist minister and his wife, Cecilia was used to moving from place to place as John fulfilled his ministry obligations. She attended high school in Buffalo Gap, SD.
Cecilia married Warren Robert Althaus in 1956 in Rockham, SD. The couple adopted a daughter, Robin Lynn in 1967. The family traveled, as Warren was a Captain in the US Army, and made their home in many places including: White Sands, NM, Virginia, Iowa and Tacoma, Washington. Warren and Ann later divorced. Ann and Robin then moved to Olivet, South Dakota where Rev. John and Mrs. Cecil were finishing their last year of ministry before retirement. After the retirement of her father John, Ann and her daughter moved to Buffalo Gap, SD. Ann held down several part-time jobs while in that community.
A few years later, Ann met Kenneth Robertson and they were later married. Ann and Robin then moved to Crawford, Ne to begin their new lives with their new family which included Kenny’s children from a previous marriage {LaVaughn Robertson}: June, Klara, Rheva, Keith and Heidi.
When Kenny retired from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, the couple enjoyed visiting their children, going camping in their camper, meeting new friends and visiting old friends, attending car races and going to church. Oftentimes, they just loved driving through the Black Hills or around the country roads of Nebraska, or spending time at home playing cards with family and friends and attending the Post Playhouse in the summer months.
Ann loved any and all things associated with her heritage in Kentucky and still kept in touch with childhood friend Joanne. She enjoyed embroidering, old-fashioned country music and just rediscovered her love of reading.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents: Rev. John and Lorine Cecil, husband, Kenneth H. Robertson. She is survived by: daughter Robin Lynn Shimek, son-in-law, Paul, grandchildren, Kassondra Paige and Michael Paul; daughter Heidi Perkins, son-in-law, Dave, grandchildren, Lane and Tina; son, Keith Robertson and wife, Sharon; daughter Rheva French, grandchildren Corey and LaVaughn, daughter, Klara Serl and son-in-law, Dean, grandchildren: Matthew, Christina and Aaron; daughter, June Preiss and son-in-law Terry; granddaughter, Rebecca; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
