A private family graveside service for Wauneta Evelyn Anderson of Chadron, formerly of Bayard, will be on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Bayard Cemetery. Wauneta (Warrick) Anderson, 95, of Chadron, Nebraska died June 11, 2012 at Crestview Care Center in Chadron.
Wauneta was born April 14, 1917 in Bridgeport, Nebraska to Lydia and Earl Warrick. She attended primary grade school in District No. 4, Morrill County Nebraska; second grade in Hastings, Nebraska and moved to Bayard with her family in 1924, graduating with honors in 1934 from Bayard High School. Wauneta moved to Scottsbluff in 1938 to be employed as bookkeeper, and secretary for Smith Insurance Agency and later Neighbors & Danielson Law Firm, returning to Bayard in 1944 as secretary at the Bayard Sugar Factory. She married Maurice Earl Anderson on June 1, 1941. After the birth of her sons, she worked part-time as secretary at the Bayard High School, part-time assistant assessor of personal property for Morrill County and part-time at the Bayard Sugar Factory until retirement in 1979.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Wauneta loved music, especially classical, reading and learning computer. She played and taught the violin for the number of years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Bayard Senior Center. Wauneta was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Earl Warrick; infant brother, Donald, and her husband, Maurice Anderson.
Survivors include sons, Dr. Terence Anderson and wife Susan of Valparaiso, Indiana; Professor Timothy Anderson and wife Pamela of Chadron, Nebraska; grandsons, Justin Anderson and wife Laura of Omaha, Nebraska; Ryan Anderson and fiancé Gina Murphy of Chicago, Illinois; step-grandson, Shawn Grant and wife Julie of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Colleen Kerr of La Jolla, California; Great Grandchildren, Kaeden, Ashtyn, Connor and Brayden as well as several nieces and nephews.
