07/26/2012 - Doris Homrighausen

Funeral services for Doris Homrighausen, 84, of Crawford will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Crawford with Pastor George Kilmer officiating. Burial will follow immediately at the Crawford Cemetery. Fellowship and lunch will follow burial at the Crawford Eagles Club. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Crawford.
 
Doris was born December 29, 1927 in Crawford, Nebraska.  Doris was raised by John and Eva Wolff in the rural area of Dawes County and graduated from Crawford High School in 1945. She was born the youngest of seven children; John (Jack) Wolff, deceased, Donald Wolff, Violet (Bobbi) Welling, deceased; Eunice Smith, deceased; Bernice Raben and Bernard Wolff.
 
Earnest (E.G.) Homrighausen and Doris Wolff were married on February 27, 1948 and were blessed with four children, Alan, Gary, Julie and William (Bill) Homrighausen. Their ranch was located just west of Marsland. After Earnest’s passing in the late 80s, Doris moved to Crawford. In 2010, she began residency at the Ponderosa Villa where her children and grandchildren surrounded her throughout the day. She passed away peacefully on July 22, 2012.
 
Doris enjoyed and was blessed with the following 11 grandchildren who are listed in order of age; Christopher Lee Homrighausen, deceased; Shawn Michael Homrighausen, deceased; Jason Eugene Homrighausen, Barbara Valentine, Tyrell Dean Homrighausen, Maggie Lee Homrighausen, Rachel Nichole Homrighausen, Layne Michael Homrighausen, Quinn Randal Wheeler, Kaitlyn Leann Homrighausen, and Gail Dean Wheeler. Also, great grandchildren Haylon, Myah and Colton Heiting.
 
Doris spent many hours gardening, one of her favorite past times. Many of Doris’s highlights were the enjoyment of family get togethers. She also enjoyed and cherished her brother and sister-in-laws as if they were truly brothers and sisters. Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church and Advanced Extension Club of Marsland.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva; Brother Jack; Sisters; Bobbi and Eunice; Husband E.G.; Son Alan, and grandsons Chris and Shawn.
 
She leaves behind her siblings, Donald, Bernice, and Bernard; her children, Gary, Julie and William (Bill) and numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
 
A memorial has been established for the Crawford Rescue Unit. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
