Theodore Clair Mikesell, 84, passed away on April 19, 2014 at the Chadron Community Hospital after many years of battling heart and lung disease. He was born on October 19, 1929 in Newcastle, Wyoming. He was the first child born to Louise Black and Theodore C. Mikesell Sr.

Ted graduated from Chadron High School in 1947 and then continued on with his education at Chadron State College. He then enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and served for two years. After completing his service he began working for the C&NW Railroad and continued this career for 33 years.

Ted spent most of his life farming and had a great passion for it. He was a wonderful mechanic and also enjoyed gardening. He loved tinkering with small engines and other objects and even spent time weaving lawn chairs in his spare time. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Ted was also a member of the Chadron Elks Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and the American Legion. Ted held the Shriners very dear to his heart and credited them with restoring his ability to walk as a boy.
