Funeral services for Ronald Wayne Grote of Harrison will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:00AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrison with Reverend Gregory Sonnenschein officiating.
Burial will be at the Harrison Cemetery.
A memorial may be made out to the donor’s choice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Ronald Wayne Grote was born July 10, 1932 in Harrison, Nebraska to William and Emma (Heidemann) Grote, the youngest of six living children. He graduated from Sioux County High School in 1949. He served overseas in the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. After serving in the Army, he worked for Fred Bruegger for a couple of years near Lost Springs, Wyoming. He married Jerry Sue Phipps on February 16, 1958 in Harrison. Shortly after, they returned to Harrison and lived on the “Poor Farm”, where he continued to live until his death at the age of eighty-one. Ronald and Jerry Sue had three children; Scott, Kevin, and Laurel. He enjoyed ranching, roping in his younger days, and the company of his many hunter friends. He was also an avid cribbage player and enjoyed a good game with neighbors and friends. He liked to watch his grandchildren in all their activities and to share his wisdom with them. He also enjoyed his many nieces and nephews and formed special bonds with many of them.

Grandchildren: Nicki and husband Jay Kittinger, Wyatt Grote, Sean and Hannah Grote, Trevor and Jebb Ginkens,
Brother-in-law: Morris Engebretsen
Nieces and nephews: numerous
He was preceded in death by his wife Jerry Sue (Phipps) Grote, his parents William and Emma Grote, siblings Earl Grote, Alice Rabe, Melvin Grote, Elaine Walker, and Alda Engebretsen, brothers and sisters-in-law Albert Rabe, Duke Rabe, Ola Mae Grote, Madeline Grote, Loren Walker, Dorothy Phipps and Jim Phipps, niece Twila Grote, and nephews Duane Grote and Bill Grote.
Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
