Funeral services for Wallace Emery Amiotte, age 83, of Martin, SD will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10:00AM at the Mother Butler in Rapid City, SD with Fr. Dave Matzko S.J. officiating.
 
Burial service will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 2:00PM at Martin Catholic Cemetery in Martin, SD.
 
Wallace Emery Amiotte was born on April 17, 1931 at Pine Ridge, SD. He is the son of Emery C. Amiotte and Blanche (Wilcox) Amiotte. Wallace journeyed to the Spirit World on July 6, 2014 at the age of 83. 
 
Wallace’s first school was a one room house on Buzzard Creek, then Pine Ridge boarding school at Martin. Wallace was disabled from polio at age 15. He and his mother Blanche operated their ranch near Long Valley for many years. He went to “watch repair” school at Senator, SD and worked for the Clinton Watch Co. in Chicago, IL. He also worked for an electronic factory in Bensenville, IL for some years. He then worked at Stamper Jewelry Factory in Rapid City, SD; one experience he valued greatly!
 
He and his mother’s relative, Maris Gonzalez, traveled to Glasgow and Isle of Skye, Scotland, London, England and Paris, France. They also visited South of France. Wallace had been retired and lived at his home in Rapid City, SD for many years. Wallace wrote an Amiotte Family history with some Sioux Indian history in some public libraries and at the State Library in Pierre, SD.
 
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Irene Amiotte Lessert, Mabel Amiotte Wounded Head, and Beulah Amiotte Fay. 
 
Wallace is survived by his two brothers, Gordon Amiotte and Roger Amiotte both of Wanblee, SD, many nephews and nieces, his dog, Sparky “Fat Cat” who he treasured dearly.
 
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements.
