Funeral services for Gladys I. Beamish, age 90, of Chadron, Nebraska will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:00AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Pastor Aaron Sprock officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.
A memorial has been established. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Mrs. Beamish passed away on August 2, 2014 at Crestview Care Center in Chadron. She was a life member of DAV, VFW, the American Legion Auxiliaries, and the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Beamish was born on January 24, 1924 in Chadron, Nebraska to William Edward and Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Warren. She attended Chadron Public Schools and graduated high school in 1941.
In July 1942, she married Warren W. Beamish in Alliance, Nebraska. To this union 2 children were born, William Warren and Bonnie Jean.
Mrs. Beamish enjoyed working and training horses with her late husband. They had two trick horses, “Chip and Champ” who entertained many at local fairs, parades, and rodeos.
Later in life she and her husband operated the Chadron Cab service and then worked at Chadron State College as an Administrative Assistant for the Building & Grounds Department.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers, Wesley, William, and Robert and 3 sisters Leona Boyles, Maude Miller, and Ellen Crowe. One grandson, Vincent Beamish, also preceded her.
Immediate survivors:
Son: William and wife Mary Beamish
Daughter: Bonnie and husband Butch Moody
Granddaughter: Rebecca and husband Ryan Oatts
Grandsons: Mark Beamish, Scott and wife Marilyn Diehl, and Robbie and wife Kim Diehl
Great grandchildren: Katelyn Diehl, R.J. and Zoey Oatts.
Mrs. Beamish also had 5 step-grandsons and one step granddaughter along with several step great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
