Aleta Faye Buckley, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on August 13, 2014, at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.

She married Herman Buckley in Chadron on December 20, 1971. To this union were born two daughters, Tracy, born in September, 1972 and Kalia born in August, 1983. Aleta and Herman divorced in 1986.

Aleta loved her grandsons. They meant a lot to her and she would have done anything for them. Chance drove her crazy at times, but their love was deep.

Aleta ended her formal education at the 11th grade, but she learned many valuable things from her career as a cook. She worked for a short time at Maverick Junction. Then she worked at the State Veteran’s Home until she found the job she loved – cooking for the residents at Castle Manor Nursing Home until her health forced her to retire.

She loved to be outside and to have animals.   During her life she raised goats, chickens and dogs. She loved her animals. She nursed many a sick animal back to good health with her love and knowledge of animals.

Not one for housework, Aleta could be found doing gardening and video lottery. Having to do things for herself, she was a master fixer with duct tape and JB quick weld. Sometimes this was not a good deal, but it was done!
