09/25/2014 - Ed Brueckner

Graveside services for Ed Brueckner, 84, of Chadron will be on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Steve Ratzlaff officiating.
 
A memorial has been established for the Chadron Fire and Rescue Unit. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Edward (Ed) Allen Brueckner went to his heavenly home on September 21, 2014. Ed was born in Bonesteel, South Dakota on January 16, 1930. He was the second child of William and Ellen Brueckner. 
 
Ed graduated from Chadron High School and after high school, went to work as a Locomotive Engineer for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. His work for the C&NW railroad took him to both Wisconsin and Minnesota where he worked as a Traveling Engineer. After retiring, Ed was the engineer for the dinner train in Chadron, Nebraska and he would often travel to Hill City, South Dakota to visit with his buddies on the 1880 train. Ed really had a passion for trains and steam locomotives.
 
Ed greatly enjoyed camping and fishing, especially in the Black Hills which was one of his favorite places. There were many wonderful vacations spent with family and friends at Bismarck Lake and Deerfield Lake.
 
On October 2, 1952, Ed married Violet Marie Peterson and divorced in 1998. From this marriage there were four children; Greg, Kathleen, Debra, and Doug.
 
Ed was preceded in death by his son Greg, mother Ellen, father William, brother Billy, and sister Verril. 
 
Immediate Survivors:
 
Children: Doug, Debra, and Kathleen
 
Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
