10/30/2014 - Robert “Bob” Ross

Memorial services for Robert “Bob” Ross, age 84, of Chadron, be on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Episcopal Church in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.    
Memorials have been established for Youth Baseball or Chadron Softball. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Robert D. Ross passed away at home on October 26, 2014. Bob was born in Chadron on June 15, 1930 to Robert Y. and Mabel (Knapp) Ross. Bob grew up in Crawford and Gordon. He attended Chadron State College and the University of NE. He then joined the Navy during the Korean War and was stationed at Pearl Harbor where he married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara (Bobbie) Nance on July 25, 1953.
After stints in Hawaii and Oregon, Bob and Bobbie returned to NE in 1955 to the love of Bob’s life, ranching in the Sandhills. Due to health reasons, he then joined the family business, Ross Transfer, until his retirement. He was the first Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year, the first Trail Boss of Ride The Ridge in 1991, and served on the Chadron Hospital Foundation. He, along with a few other golf enthusiasts, was instrumental in the development of Ridgeview Golf Course.

Wife: Bobbie
Daughters: Polly (Keith) Livingston of Longmont, CO, Patti (Ed) Porras of Chadron, and Paige (Russ) Ballinger of Rapid City, SD
Son: Robert Douglas Ross of Flagstaff, AZ
Grandchildren: Mackenzie Nemeth Suko, Riley Nemeth, Bailey Ballinger, Bobbi Ballinger Rodriguez, Abbie Ballinger Hicks, Dylan Ross, and Nathan Ross
Great-Grandsons: Peter and Ezra.
Bob was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cynthia, and his parents.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
