Funeral services for Mildred “Millie” Marie Lone Hill, age 69, will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Our Lady of Sorrows in Kyle, SD, with Rev. Cordelia Red Owl, Deacon Harold Condon and Pastor Dennis Carlin officiating.
Burial will be at Mediator Episcopal Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A two-night wake service will start at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows in Kyle.
Millie passed away on January 4, 2015 in Kyle.
Survivors include:
Daughter Mattie Yankton of Kyle, SD
Hunka Daughter Janelle One Horn of Kyle, SD
Brother Mel (Genieva) Lone Hill of Batesland, SD
Sisters Vina (Loyd Sr.) Lone Hill and Cora (Daniel) Spotted Eagle, both of Kyle, SD
Grandchildren: 8
Great grandchildren: 5
Millie was born on August 9, 1945 in Kyle, SD. She attended KyleDay School in her elementary years and went to high school at the Holy Rosary Mission, graduating in 1964.
She went to work for the National Park Service at CedarPass, Interior, SD.
She worked with the CHR Program with the Oglala Sioux Tribe. After moving back to Kyle, she worked at the Little Wound School Business Office. After retiring in 1997, she was a Foster Grandparent in the Lakota Language Class at the Little Wound Middle School.
Preceding her were parents Amos and Marie (Fools Crow) Lone Hill, brothers Everette Lone Hill and Daniel Lone Hill, sisters Phinette Lone Hill-Janis, Marjorie and Cora Mae Lone Hill in infancy, nephews Harrison Lone Hill, Roland Lone Hill, Floyd Bianas, niece Evette Lone Hill and Rochelle Lone Hill-Top Bear, paternal grandparents Lester and Eva (White Thunder) Lone Hill, maternal grandparents Frank and Fannie (Afraid of Hawk) Fools Crow, daughter Tamera High Bull, and great grandaughter Jessaliyah Coleman.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD, is in charge of arrangements for Mildred “Millie” Marie Lone Hill.
