01/20/2015 - Robert Thomas Harrison

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Thomas Harrison, age 67, of Hot Springs, SD, will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Black Hills National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established. Donations may be sent in Bob’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or Save the VA, PO Box 851, Hot Springs, SD57747.

Robert passed away on January 13, 2015 at Rapid CityRegionalHospital in Rapid City, SD.
Robert was born in Chadron, NE, on July 13, 1947 to William and Eleanor (Slater) Harrison. In 1966 he graduated high school in Chadron. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to his honorable discharge in 1969. He served in the Vietnam War with the Wolfhound 25th Division. During his service Bob received 2 purple hearts and a bronze star.
After the service Bob spent the next 17 years working at East Side Eitemiller Oil. In 1969 he married Sharon Madsen. They had 3 children, Randee Marie, Cassee Marie and Ryan Thomas. In 1986 he started working with the Dawes County Veteran's Service Office. Here Bob devoted a lot of his time helping and serving the veterans of the area. After 3 years at the Veterans Office Bob received the Nebraska Veterans Service Officer of the Year Award. Sept. 10, 2004 Bob married Sherie Graveline and they made their home in Hot Springs, SD. In July of 2005 Bob retired from the Veterans Office.
He is survived by his wife, Sherie Harrison of Hot Springs; daughter, Randee (Ward) Wasserburger of Rapid City, SD; son; Ryan (April) Harrison of Alva, WY; stepdaughter, Carly Needham of Phoenix, AZ; stepson, Jesse Needham of Hastings, MN; Brother Larry (Joey) of Bakersfield, CA; 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Bill, Sister Margaret, and daughter Cassee.
Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements for Robert “Bob” Thomas Harrison.
