Tiny passed away on January 4, 2015, in Craig, CO. She was born in Hot Springs, SD on December 17, 1939 to Walter Frank and Alyce (Colwell) Merrill. She helped run her parents’ ranch in Pine Ridge, SD and was proud to deliver U.S. Mail to the Star Route customers, which included Denby, Wounded Knee, Manderson, Rocky Ford, Porcupine, and Pine Ridge in the 1970's. Unfortunately, the ranch was sold in 1979, and Frank and Alyce moved to Hay Springs, NE. Tiny moved to Nebraska as well and settled in Rushville with her children. She lived in Rushville from about 1980 until 2005 when she moved Craig, CO to live with her daughter. While in Rushville, she worked for the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office as a cook from 1983-1989 and was also a bartender for the Stockman's Bar and the Lounge for some time.
Tiny is survived by sister Judy Bolek of Springdale, AR; daughters Rita (Richard) Charleen (Morton) Anderson of Gordon, NE, Susan "Cissy" (Rick) (Morton) Serres of Chadron, NE, and Shauana Merrill of Craig, CO; son Shane Morton of Craig, CO; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Edward Frank Merrill, sons Tommy Ray Morton and George Francis Morton, granddaughter Daylee Ann Serres, and nephew Scott Bolek.
