Funeral services for Helen Irene Emick, age 93, of Chadron, NE will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Dr. Reverend Mark Crist officiating. Burial will be at the TorringtonCityCemetery in Torrington, WY at approximately 2:00 PM. There will be a viewing on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel.
A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church.

Helen passed away January 28, 2015 at Crestview Care Center in Chadron, NE. She was born July 1, 1921 in Wheatland, WY to Paul and Edna (French) Wood. She grew up on a farm in Yoder, WY and attended YoderHigh School, where she played drums in the band and performed in many singing competitions. After graduating in 1939, she went to BeautySchool in Cheyenne, WY, where she earned her degree in cosmetology. She moved to Torrington, WY and worked in a beauty salon, which she later purchased. She married William (Bill) Emick from Minatare, NE in 1945. They spent the next twelve years residing and working in Torrington and Scottsbluff, NE. They spent eight years in Lawrence, KS and two years in Riverton, WY. During this time, Helen was involved in the United Methodist church, Sweet Adelines singing group and raising four children. She served as a troop leader in both Cub Scouts with her sons and Camp Fire Girls with her daughters. In 1968, the family moved to Chadron, NE, where Helen continued to be very active in the Methodist church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She also assisted Bill in the Gambles store and was an active member in DAR, Geneology Society and the Dawes County Historical Society. She had a life-long love of music and fixing Sunday dinners for the family. She also enjoyed traveling, crafting, gardening and sewing for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by children Lois (Jim) Fauerbach of Emporia, KS, Paul Emick and Tom (Pam) Emick of Chadron, and Pat Emick of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bill; brother John Raymond Wood; and sisters Pauline (Wilhite) and Lois (Scott).
