Funeral services for Lyle Herman Poor Bear, age 53, will be at 2:00 PM (MST) on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Kennedy Hall in Wanblee, SD with Rev. Francis Cutt officiating and traditional Lakota services provided by Richard Moves Camp and Roy Stone, Sr.
Burial will be at the Gethsemane Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wanblee, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night starting at 1:00 PM (CST) on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the St. Agnes Catholic Hall in Parmelee, SD and the second night starting at 11:00 AM (MST) on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Kennedy Hall in Wanblee, SD.
Lyle passed away on February 21, 2015 in Rapid City, SD.
Lyle was born and raised in the Sand Creek Community northeast of Wanblee, SD and lived a majority of his life in Wanblee, SD, Parmelee, SD and Wakpala, SD.
Lyle lived a very humble and caring life. He was very talented in his beadwork, especially making his pipestone earrings. He was also very talented in his drawings and paintings.
Lyle is survived by children Al Poor Bear, Edith Poor Bear, and Lyle Poor Bear, Jr., all of Rosebud, SD, and Victoria White Thunder of Parmelee, SD; hunka daughters Larissa Bush, Ashlyn Bush, and Shayna One Feather, all of Wakpala, SD; hunka sons Andrew Brave of Wakpala, SD, and Patrick DuBray of Rosebud, SD; grandchildren Jerome Poor Bear, Kathrine Poor Bear, Chance Poor Bear-Archambault, Jordyn Poor Bear, Mahpiya Poor Bear, Trey Packard, and Robert Packard III, all of Rosebud, SD; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lyle was preceded in death by mother Edith (Cutt) Poor Bear; father Raymond Poor Bear; brothers Lester Poor Bear and Bernard Poor Bear; sisters Roselind Poor Bear, LaDonna Poor Bear, and Darlene May Poor Bear; and granddaughter Lanae White Thunder.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD, is in charge of arrangements for Lyle Herman Poor Bear.
