Verdell attended high school and graduated from OCS in Pine Ridge, SD. After high school, Verdell moved to Oakland, CA, where he went to welding school and then worked out in California, where he became a skillful welder. Verdell returned to the Pine Ridge area and started working as a ranch hand for area ranchers and also breaking horses for the many people who asked him. After his time in Golden, he moved to Denver, where he became the store manager at the Salvation Army. In Verdell’s spare time, he loved to take pictures. He could be seen at family and social events with a camera in hand taking pictures at any and every opportunity. Verdell was also very proud that he obtained the goal of 28 years of sobriety, which was an amazing accomplishment.
