Funeral services for Jessie Renae Waters, age 31, will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Lone Elk Residence in Oglala, SD with Father Rick Abert, S.J. officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Ivis Long Visitor.
Burial will be at the Lone Elk Family Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the St. John’s Catholic Church Meeting Hall in Allen, SD. The second night will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Lone Elk Residence in Oglala, SD.
Jessie passed away on April 30, 2015 in Oglala, SD. She was born on April 11, 1984 in Pine Ridge, SD to Raymond Waters Sr. and Mary Ann Lone Elk.
Jessie is survived by father Raymond Waters Sr. of Allen, SD; sons Phillip Red Bear Jr. and Chevy Torretto Red Bear of Oglala, SD; sisters Dawnna Waters and Cecelia Waters of Allen, SD, Cherish Waters and Tiffany Waters of Martin, SD, and Phyllis Blue Bird of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers Ray Charles Waters Jr. and Francis Waters of Allen, SD; uncles Michael Slow Bear and Chris Lone Elk of Oglala, SD, Gilbert Lone Elk of Porcupine, SD, Anthony Waters of Martin, SD, Marty Waters Sr., Nathaniel Waters, and John Waters of Allen, SD; aunts Marsha Lone Elk of Rapid City, SD, Desiree Lone Elk of Porcupine, SD, Katherine Waters of Pine Ridge, SD, Donna Salomon and Stephanie Waters of Allen, SD; and grandparents Margaret Lone Elk of Oglala, SD, and Emma Waters of Allen, SD.
Jessie was preceded in death by mother, Mary Ann Lone Elk; son Jesse Ray Waters; sister Charlotte Waters; uncles Chauncey Lone Elk Jr., Brian Waters, Phillip “Wally” Waters, and Verdell Mesteth; grandparents Leroy Waters, Chauncey Lone Elk Sr., and Vera Good Lance; and godparents Louis Means Sr. and Janice Means.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Jessie Renae Waters.
