Charles Johnson Sr. departed this life at the age of sixty-three on Friday, May 1, 2015 in Phoenix, Az. He was born on July 31, 1951 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota to the union of James L. Johnson and Lena Lou Spotted Crow-Johnson who preceded him in death along with his grandmothers (Irene Ford and Lucy Spotted Crow), two sons (William Thornton Harris, Jr. and James O’Neal Johnson), and one brother (Nathan Carlton Johnson).
Charles was loved by many. His family was very important to him. He loved kidding around with his nephews and nieces and spending time with other family, loved ones and friends. He knew no strangers and was no stranger to the kitchen.
Laughter was a natural part of his life. Just the sound of his laughter brought joy to others. He discovered the joy of the Lord very early in his life. Charles served as an ordained deacon for many years. He greeted everyone and had no prejudices.
He loved and truly enjoyed serving people, and meeting their needs. It was a source of joy for him. His presence brought joy to others. If you knew him, you knew the laugh. Charles’ nickname was “Chuckle”. We will truly miss the laughter.
