Graveside services for Michael W. York, age 68, of Rushville, NE will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Fairview Cemetery in Rushville.
Michael passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Chadron Memorial Hospital. His sister, Nancy, was by his side.
Michael was born in Rushville, NE on November 24, 1946. He was the first child of Mary York and Arie York. Soon after graduation from Rushville High School, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was trained as an airplane mechanic and sent to Vietnam. Michael died from cancer that resulted from exposure to Agent Orange while in Vietnam.
Michael is survived by sister Nancy of Bodega Bay, CA, brother Albert of Portland, OR, maternal aunt Ada Scott Neppl of Salida, KS, niece Marianna Reid, and nephew Nathan Reid.
Michael was gentle, quiet, courteous, and very independent. Except for his years in the Air Force, he resided in Rushville his entire life. Now at least he is at peace and without pain. He will be buried with his beloved grandmother, Anna Capstick, at Fairview Cemetery in Rushville. Rest in peace dear brother (from Nancy).
