Funeral services for John Scott Bates Sr., age 79, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala, SD.
Burial will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A one-night wake service will start at 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall in Oglala.
John passed away on June 11, 2015 in Sturgis, SD. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy.

Wife Ethel Bates of Lead, SD
Sons Albert “Rusty” Joseph Bates of Webb City, MO and John Scott Bates Jr. of Oglala, SD
Daughter Debbie Lee Bates of Custer, SD
Grandchildren: 6
Great-grandchildren: 2
John was preceded in death by parents George and Alice (New) Bates and brothers Donald G. Bates, James Bates, and Richard Bates.
