William Henry Siers, 76, was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on November 20, 1938. He was one of six children born to John Siers and Rosa (Rose) Fasthorse. He was the proud brother of John ("Smokes"), Fran, Ann, Leo, and Aloysisus (Al) Dreamer.

 In his early years, he attended Holy Rosary Mission School and shared many stories of his youth including his love of basketball. He was instrumental in helping his team win the 1957 Championship Basketball Catholic Indian Tournament. 

He often shared many fond memories of spending time with his brothers and sisters. His greatest challenge was overcoming the loss of his mother at an early age. He also shared the difficulties he faced growing up in the world without parents. These challenges cultivated his heart and inspired him until his passing to develop a plan to help Lakota orphans. In his final days, he looked forward to joining his brothers and sisters and strongly embraced finally being able to see his mother. 

Throughout his life, he traveled from South Dakota to California making stops throughout the southwest visiting friends and other family relations, "In The Spirit of Crazy Horse" and strongly connected to the words, "I must leave my people to hear my spirit". He loved his family. Though he never had any biological children, he was an honorary grandfather and great-grandfather to many. He was a proudly known as uncle/grandpa Billy to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was proud to be Oglala Lakota.  He was an activist, a teacher and storyteller. He was generous beyond measure and loved to encourage the children he came in contact with.  His smile and laughter will linger for eternity in our hearts.
