Memorial services for Verda Mae (Perkins) Zerbe, age 75, of Crawford, NE will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Pastor Jim Nichols and Pastor Mark Magnusson officiating.

Verda passed away on August 22, 2015 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, NE after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on February 9, 1940 in Lewellen, NE to Floyd and Wilma Perkins and lived most of her life in the country with her siblings and parents. She enjoyed helping her Dad do chores, riding horses, and working cattle. Verda had several jobs in the Chadron area. Her favorite was being a Foster Grandparent at Northwest Community Action Head Start where the children adored her. They called her “Grandma” and loved to sit on her lap while she read to them. Verda was very passionate about her church and had a wonderful church family. She will be remembered for her love of children and living her life in Christ. Verda’s beloved little dog, Snowball, was like the child she never had.
Verda is survived by sisters Violet (Robert) Lembke of Dunlap, NE, Anne (Larry) Canaday of Norton, KS, Bonnie (Carl) Hald of Chadron, NE and Dixie (Gary) Bowker of Denver, CO; brothers Sam Perkins of Sherman, TX and Ron (Jean) Perkins of McCook, NE; 13 nieces; 5 nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Wilma Perkins, brother Floyd, and sister Dorothy.
