Funeral services for Lorina Jean Good Voice Flute-Vierra, age 70, will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Sister Barb officiating.
Burial will be at St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
Wake services will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala.
Lorina passed away on September 20, 2015 in Oakland, CA. She was a good woman and a loving mother with a big heart. She loved everybody. Although she had 16 grandchildren with two on the way, and two great granddaughters with one great-grandson on the way, she adopted everybody and always told those around her to "look out for the wounded and broken."
She taught her family to be strong, to be brave, and to be proud. She will be missed greatly. She is survived by children Melba Rodriguez of Oakland, CA, Leah Vierra of Oakland, CA, Melva Vierra of Stockton, CA, Melvin (Sonny) Vierra Jr. of Oakland, CA, Elvira Davis of Oakland, CA, and Lolita Davis of Oakland, CA; brothers Merrill Good Voice Flute of Oglala, SD and Rick Good Voice Flute of Rapid City, SD; and sister Diane Crow of Chadron, NE. Lorina was preceded in death by parents Levi Good Voice Flute and Bertha Fights Bear; husband Melvin James Vierra Sr.; daughters Melba Chris Good Voice Flute and Lorina Vierra; and siblings Herman Good Voice Flute, Carl Good Voice Flute, Gearney Good Voice Flute, Gillard Good Voice Flute and Betty Good Voice Flute.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Lorina Jean Good Voice Flute-Vierra.
