Funeral services for John Theodore Mousseau, age 78, of Porcupine, SD will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Father Bill Pauly Hall at Christ the King Church in Porcupine, SD with Father Chris Johnson S.J. officiating.
Burial will be at the Iron Cloud Family Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Father Bill Pauly Hall at Christ the King Church in Porcupine, SD, with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM.
John passed away in the loving company of his family on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born on January 1, 1937 in Porcupine, SD to James “Slim” and Lena (Boyer) Mousseau. He attended Holy Rosary Mission as well as Haskell Indian Nations University and Oglala Lakota College. John worked for the Oglala Sioux Tribe for many years and was a champion golfer and bowler. He was a good man and an amazing father and relative.
Survivors include children Lyle Mousseau, Alicia Mousseau, Randi Gibbons, Cindy Iron Cloud, Cathy Iron Cloud-Ferguson, Margaret Iron Cloud-Black Bull, Jennifer Iron Cloud-Red Owl, Patrick Iron Cloud Jr., Michael Iron Cloud, Rhonda Bear, John Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Karen Mousseau, Sharon Mousseau, and Barbara Mousseau; sister Alice Lone Elk; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by parents James “Slim” and Lena (Boyer) Mousseau and wife Vera Jane (Reynolds) Mousseau; brother Patrick (Roberta) Iron Cloud; and son Leonard Jackson.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for John Theodore Mousseau.
