A memorial service for Barney Ernest Smith, age 86, 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, NE with Ron Smith officiating.will be at
Burial will be at the Abold Cemetery located on the Abold ranch north of Rushville, NE.

Barney passed away on November 16, 2015 at Crestview Healthcare Community in Chadron, NE with daughter Renee Abold at his side. Barney was a long-time resident of Rushville, NE, having made his home there and providing for his family for almost 60 years.
Barney was born in the village of Wood, SD on February 25, 1929, the only child of Henry and Ethyl (Diamond) Smith. While yet an infant, he moved with his father to Naper, NE, where he attended school until the age of 16. It was at this time that he met his future bride, Esther Jane Kortmeyer. They were married on January 30, 1948.
Barney is survived by wife Jane and children Ronald E. Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Renee E. Abold of Rushville, NE and Rhonda E. Metcalf of Hay Springs, NE. He was preceded in death by son Roy E. Smith in 1960.
