11/28/2015 - Myrtle Yellow Hawk-Flute

Funeral services for Myrtle Pearl Yellow Hawk-Flute, age 69, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD with Reverend Harold Eagle Bull and Mother Loren officiating.
 
Burial will be at Gethsemane Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wanblee, SD.
 
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night at 12:00 PM (CT) on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Parmelee, SD. The second night will start at 12:00 PM (MT) on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD.
 
Myrtle passed away on November 21, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK. On January 11, 1946, Myrtle was born to Emma Broken Leg and Jacob Yellow Hawk in Parmelee, SD.
 
Myrtle met Thompson Flute Jr. in May of 1968 in Los Angeles, CA, where she was attending nursing school and Thompson was in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Tom and Myrtle were married on March 13, 1970 in Los Angeles, CA. Myrtle and Tom renewed their vows in Kadoka, SD on July 18, 2000. They made their home in Anadarko, OK. Myrtle was always happy to return to the home place in South Dakota; the family all called it the country. Her final wish was to be brought back to be with her family. Her husband says he will keep in his heart all the memories and years they had together, 45 years and eight months.
 
Myrtle is survived by husband Tom Flute Jr. of Anadarko, OK; children Thompson Flute III, Tammy (Kenneth) Moran, Raymond Flute, Benjamin Flute, and Ellen Renee Flute-Onco; sisters Thelma Mesteth, Betty Decory, and Geri Wilson; brother Duane Yellow Hark; grandchildren Judice Tom Flute, Chassity Beth Flute, Johnson T. Flute II, Lyndia Arnelle Flute, Timothy Mato Ishnala Flute, Manuel Onco, Ellyson Morning Star Onco, Daniel “Big D” Onco, Sara Moran, Elizabeth & Emily Moran, Nathaniel Benjamin Flute, Kenneth Moran Jr., Misun Anderson, and Aden Anderson; great-grandchild Kyah Marie (Keya) Flute; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
 
Myrtle was preceded in death by parents Jacob and Emma Yellow Hawk; brothers Tom Yellow Hawk Sr., William Yellow Hawk, Collins Yellow Hawk, Lavern Yellow Hawk, and Orville Yellow Hawk; maternal grandparents John and Ellen Yellow Hawk; and paternal grandparents Charles and Mary (Flood) Little Dog-Broken Leg.
 
Myrtle loved all her family and especially loved and cherished all her grandchildren on both sides of her family. Everyone will miss her dearly.
