12/19/2015 - Ira Edwin Briggs Sr.
A two-night wake service for Ira Edwin Briggs Sr., age 56, will begin with the first night at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD. Rosary services will start at 7:00 PM. The second night of the wake service will start at 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Landmark Hall in Eagle Butte, SD with prayer services starting at 7:00 PM. Father Rick Abert S.J. and Mother Margaret Watson will officiate.
Ira passed away on December 12, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army.
Ira was born on February 4, 1959 at the Old Cheyenne Agency Hospital to Edson Ray Briggs and Grace (Good Shield) Briggs.
He is survived by spouse Joanne Towry-Briggs of Kyle, SD; children Lala Edwin Briggs of Rapid City, SD, Thecla Jean Two Bears of Kyle, SD, Casey Wade Two Bears of Monterey, CA, Ira Edwin Briggs Jr. of Eagle Butte, SD, Albert James Two Bears III of Allen, SD, and Deshae Delancy Provost of Eagle Butte, SD; brothers Edson Briggs of Batesland, SD, Richard Briggs of Eagle Butte, SD, John Briggs of Slim Buttes, SD, Vernon Briggs of Martin, SD, and Robert Briggs of Kyle, SD; sisters Maria Rivas and Shari Neigel of Martin, SD; grandchildren Torry (Lauren Janis) Ghost Bear, Myles Dillon, Lyle Dillon III, Donna Jo Dillon, Ramey Dillon, Jade Dillon, Olivia Dillon, and Akisa Rae Briggs; and great-grandson Bryer Chase Ghost Bear.
Ira was preceded in death by parents Edson and Grace Briggs and sister Johnnie Kay Reddy.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of the arrangements for Ira Edwin Briggs Sr.
