Funeral services for Peter Lawrence Blacksmith Jr., age 47, will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Sister Barb Bogeshutz officiating.
Burial will at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
Peter was born on February 7, 1968 in Pine Ridge, SD to Peter Blacksmith Sr. and Jesse Bear Robe. He passed away on January 8, 2016 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S.Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Peter is survived by mother Jessie Bear Robe of Oglala, SD; brothers Stan Blacksmith, Delayne Blacksmith, Hunter Blacksmith, Devin Arredondo, and Robert Blacksmith of Oglala, SD, William Jumping Eagle Jr. of Manderson, SD, and WillDu Brewer and Wes “Bebop” Bettelyoun of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters Elizabeth Morrison, Melissa Blacksmith, Julie Blacksmith, Sage Blacksmith, Lenora Blacksmith, and Karen Blacksmith of Oglala, SD, Vonna Blacksmith of Kyle, SD, and Jenny Brewer of Pine Ridge, SD; special nephew Jude Little Jr. of Oglala, SD; and special niece Kallen Blacksmith of Oglala, SD.
Peter was preceded in death by father Peter Blacksmith Sr.; grandmother Mary Waters; sister Eldean Blacksmith; brother Trace Davis; and cousins Elton Long Soldier, Marian Bald Eagle, Allen Long Soldier, Leon Long Soldier, and Brent Sounding Side.
