01/14/2016 - Grace (Clifford) Bradley
A Mass of Christian Burial service for Grace Teckawitha (Clifford) Bradley, age 82, will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD with Father Kerry Prendiville officiating.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, SD.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD. A Rosary will be at 7:00 PM.
A memorial has been established with donations going toward Grace's dearest charity.
Grace passed away on January 9, 2016 in Spearfish, SD. She was born on April 16, 1933 in Pine Ridge, SD to Charles "Charlie" Harrison Clifford and Anna "Annie" (Mills) Clifford. Grace was the youngest of six children and also was the only child to be born outside of the home in the old hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Grace grew up in the Pine Ridge and the Slim Buttes area and attended school for a short time in Igloo, SD before finishing school at the Holy Rosary Mission where she was a cheerleader, basketball player, and was also very popular. After high school, Grace attended college at St. Mary's College in Xavier, KS, studying to be a counselor. After college, Grace was employed at the Sister's Hospital in Hot Springs, SD as a nurse's aide and also worked at the Fall River County Veteran’s Service Office in Hot Springs, SD for several years. After her work in Hot Springs, Grace moved to Grand Island, NE, where she started her work as a secretary for the Central Nebraska Counsel regarding Alcoholism. After some time working as a secretary, Grace returned to college at HastingsTechnicalCollege in Hastings, NE where she received her degree as an alcohol and drug counselor. Grace's career as an alcohol and substance abuse counselor led her to many different locations around the area, and she had a strong passion for what she was doing. She worked as a counselor at the North Platte Mental Health Center, St. Mary's Hospital in Scottsbluff, NE, the Cheyenne Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY, and finally at the Women's Halfway House in Scottsbluff, NE, where she finished her career and retired. During Grace's career, she met and married Allen Fisher, and to this union two children were born, William Fisher and Jonathan Fisher. After some time that led Grace and Allen down different roads, Grace than married Orval Elliott and to this union three children were born, Patricia "Patty" Elliott, Ruth Elliott, and Frank Elliott. Upon retiring after serving many years as a counselor in Nebraska, Grace returned back to Hot Springs, SD and took care of many people back home and also at the V.A. Guardian Mountain Home in Hot Springs, SD. Grace cared for many people, especially her close family members. Caring for family created a role for Grace as a mediator for many things. She looked out for the best interest of her family and was a protector for them all. Grace loved to plant flowers and watch them blossom into beautiful bouquets, she loved to read, and above all she was very proud of her 46 years of sobriety. Grace enjoyed attending AA meetings and GA Meetings, she believed in God, and in return God set Grace on the good road and gave her a glorious life. Grace is survived by children William Fisher of Gering, NE, Jonathan Fisher of Alexandria, LA, and Patricia "Patty" Elliott, Ruth Elliott, and Frank Elliott of Hot Springs, SD; hunka daughter Felicia Dale of Rapid City, SD; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and former spouses Allen Fisher, Orval Elliott, Bob Mart, and C. Clifton Bradley. Grace was preceded in death by parents Charlie and Annie Clifford; siblings Margaret Clifford, Abner Clifford, Dewey Clifford, Lyle Clifford, and Owen Clifford; and great granddaughter Jessica Maciejewski. Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Grace Teckawitha (Clifford) Bradley.
