Funeral services for Karen Susan Top Bear, age 61, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD with Father Rick Abert officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Eric Cross.
Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD.
Karen was born on May 21, 1954 in Pine Ridge, SD to Maynard Top Bear and Isabelle Fool Head. Karen passed away on January 9, 2016 at the GoldenLivingCenter in St. Paul, MN.
Karen is survived by special friend Jeff Schlie of St. Paul, MN; sons Patrick Brave Heart of Minneapolis, MN and Edward Ghost Bear of Rapid City, SD; daughter Stephanie Top Bear of Rapid City, SD; brothers Vern Top Bear of Kyle, SD and Manuel Fool Head of Kyle, SD; sisters Georgianna Top Bear of Sioux Falls, SD and Rochelle Richards of Rapid City, SD; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by parents Maynard Top Bear and Isabelle Fool Head and brothers William, Harold, Louis and John Top Bear.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Karen Susan Top Bear.
