01/25/2016 - Dorothy Sheffner Wasmund Jaggers
A memorial service for Dorothy Dale (Sheffner) Wasmund Jaggers, age 93, of Hay Springs and Rushville, NE will be announced at a future date.

Dorothy passed away on January 14, 2016 at the home of her daughter Diane Kenney in Hot Springs, SD. Dorothy was born in Hay Springs, NE on December 6, 1922 to Dott and Claude Sheffner. She married Leonard Wasmund on April 15, 1944, and they were together 34 years until Leonard’s death in 1978. She married Bob Jaggers on September 3, 1981, and they were together 32 years until his death in 2013.
Dorothy grew up and lived in Hay Springs for 59 years. Dorothy and Leonard had 7 children; their only son Tommy died in 1953. Dorothy was a very important part of her 6 daughter’s lives until her death. While raising her children, she provided in-home childcare to local families, sold Avon products, and worked in the office at HaySpringsHigh School. She loved to read, travel and take her daughters shopping.
She spent much of her life with Bob Jaggers in Rushville, NE, and they enjoyed traveling the country and playing golf in their retirement years. Dorothy was part of the Hay Springs and Rushville communities in many ways, including bridge and women’s clubs, American Legion Auxiliary, school activities, and the Methodist and Catholic churches.
Dorothy is survived by daughters Sandy (Dale) Heth of Columbus, NE, Cheri (Gary) McQueen of Delta Junction, AK, Diane (Dan) Kenney of Hot Springs, SD, Debby (Steve) Byers of Ironwood, MI, Terri (David) Hildebrand of Havre, MT, and Susan Kunkee of Lincoln, NE; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, son, husbands, and one grandchild.
All of Dorothy’s children and grandchildren feel blessed and thankful she lived 93 years. At the end, they knew she was ready to go on her next journey and wanted her to be at peace.
