Funeral services for Michael Wayne Whiting, age 61, will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 23, 2016 at the Father Pauly Hall in Porcupine, SD with Father Chris Johnson, S.J. officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Francis “Chubbs” Thunder Hawk.
A one-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Father Pauly Hall in Porcupine, SD.
Michael was born on April 10, 1954 in Pine Ridge, SD to Albert John Whiting Sr. and Elsie Mary (Crow) Whiting. Michael passed away on January 15, 2016 at the PrairieLakesHospital in Watertown, SD. He was a U.S. Veteran.
Michael is survived by brothers Frank Whiting of Rapid City, SD, Al Whiting Jr. of Hastings, MN, Cyrus Condon of Rapid City, SD, Ambrose Monroe of Illinois, and Ben Togmi of Bakersfield, CA; sisters Joyce Whiting of Porcupine, SD, Victoria Whiting, Bernadette Whiting, and Ruth Whiting, all of Rapid City, SD, and Christine Whiting of Allen, SD; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by parents Albert Sr. and Elsie Whiting and and siblings Carol Jean Whiting, Elizabeth Whiting, Violet Whiting, Mark Whiting, Carmen Whiting, Donovan Whiting, and Joan Buckman.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Michael Wayne Whiting.
