Funeral services for Russel Dwain Reeves, age 81, of Chadron, NE will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, NE with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Russel passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Chadron Community Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1934, in Hay Springs, NE to Harry Everett Reeves and Doris Jesse Mohler. As a young boy, he grew up south of Chadron until his folks purchased a farm by Beaver Wall. Upon graduating from Chadron High in 1953, he worked at the Farney Ranch, south of Rushville, NE. There is where he met Leada Mae Boll from Scribner, NE. They were united in marriage on April 30, 1955 in Chadron.
Russel worked for Bill Lindeken, east of Chadron for four years, one year south of Hay Springs for Alfred Dean, and then for Glen Jackson south of Rushville.
In 1965, Russel and Leada moved back to Chadron. Russel started working for the Department of Roads for the State of Nebraska as an equipment operator. There wasn’t a piece of machinery he couldn’t operate or work on. The one thing everyone knows is that he doesn't miss plowing snow! He retired after 33 years of service in September 1998.
Russel is survived by three children and their spouses Kenny and Tammy of Guernsey, WY, Terri and Jim Fankhauser of Black Hawk, SD, and Everett and Missy of Belle Fourche, SD; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Merna Connelly of Torrington, WY; brother Melvin Reeves of Chadron, NE; and special family at Groves Restaurant.
Russel was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ralph and Lawerence.
