Funeral services for Stella Verine Janis, age 88, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD with Pastor Kim Montileaux officiating.
Burial will be at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD.
Stella was born on January 15, 1928 in Pine Ridge, SD to Thomas Lays Hard and Jenny High Hawk. She passed away on January 31, 2016 at the PineRidgeI.H.S.Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Stella is survived by children Carol Blue Bird, Marlene Kills Warrior, and Rose Fraser, all of Kyle, SD; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Stella was preceded in death by parents Thomas Lays Hard and Jenny High Hawk; spouse David Janis; children Donroy Blue Bird, Neva Hernandez, Theresa Ann Janis, and Cecil David Janis; and brothers Pershing Lays Hard, Noah Lays Hard, and Leo Lays Hard Sr.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Stella Verine Janis.
