Funeral services for Harvey James Iron Boy, age 60, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD with Reverend Harold Eagle Bull officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by David Swallow.

Burial will be at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.

A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium in Porcupine.

Harvey was born on February 20, 1955 in Pine Ridge, SD to James and Mary (Stands In Sight) Iron Boy. He passed away on February 1, 2016 at the PineRidgeI.H.S.Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.

Harvey went to school at the PorcupineSchool in Porcupine, SD. Upon graduation from PorcupineSchool, Harvey attended OglalaLakotaCollege, taking classes in Criminal Justice. After three years of college, he joined the OST Public Safety, which he served proudly for 13 years, including serving with the Public Safety Honor Guard.

Harvey also took a great amount of time serving as an advocate for the Diabetes and Dialysis patients in the Porcupine area, even serving as the Vice President of the Porcupine District and later becoming the headsman of the Porcupine District.

Harvey is survived by spouse of 15 years Jeanette Iron Boy of Porcupine, SD; son Delane Iron Boy of Wounded Knee, SD; daughters Jolene Iron Boy of Spearfish, SD and Lily Jealous of Him of Porcupine, SD; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Harvey was preceded in death by parents James and Mary Iron Boy; daughter Sandra Iron Boy; brothers Eugene Iron Boy, Marvin Iron Boy Sr., and Wyolin Iron Boy; and sisters Marie (Iron Boy) Tail, Vestana (Iron Boy) Elk Boy, Bertha Iron Boy, and Melda Yvonne (Iron Boy) Swallow.

Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Harvey James Iron Boy.
