Memorial services for Sandra June Perkins, age 64, of Hay Springs, NE will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 8, 2016 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Hay Springs, NE with Father Joseph Joseph officiating.
 
Burial will be at the Hay Springs City Cemetery.      
  
A memorial has been established for the Hay Springs Christmas Lights Foundation. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Sandra passed away on February 2, 2016 at her residence in Hay Springs, NE. She was born on June 25, 1951 in Gordon, NE.
 
Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary is in charge of arrangements for Sandra Perkins.
 
Sandra, first child of Gene and Bonnie Brice, was born on June 25, 1951. She passed away on February 2, 2016 at her home after a lengthy illness.
 
Sandra attended school in Hay Springs, NE. While growing up, Sandra enjoyed time spent with cousins, aunts, and uncles. She really enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Brice on the ranch. She enjoyed riding the horses, even those stubborn Shetland ponies. Sandra worked at Coral Gables Café and helped at the movie theater that was then owned by Aunt Pat and Uncle Eldie Eaton.
 
After graduating in 1969, Sandra attended BeautySchool in Alliance, where she received her cosmetology license and met her future husband Dave Perkins.
 
Sandra purchased the Top Knotch Beauty Salon in Hay Springs and worked there for four years. She was married to Dave Perkins on June 24, 1972.
 
Sandra worked until she decided to give it up to become a full-time wife and mother. Sandra and Dave had three children: Jason, wife Windy, and kids Jared, Shazlyn, and Jayden; Justin, wife Shannon, and kids Isaac and Kyra; and Jennifer, husband Curt Ward, and son Jay.
 
Sandra really enjoyed going to wrestling meets with the boys as well as attending scouting events and band events.
 
In 1988, Sandra went to work at Pioneer Manor nursing home as an aide. She decided she loved the work and went back to school to get her LPN license in 1989. She joined the LPN State Association and made many trips to Lincoln for meetings and testifying on healthcare legislation. She continued to work at Pioneer Manor the whole time.
 
In 2005, she got her Administration License for nursing homes. She became an administrator in Crawford and then in Hay Springs for a bit.
 
After retiring, both she and Dave still did transportation for the nursing home.
 
Sandra enjoyed traveling on various trips with Dave. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and taking care of her family. She loved her husband, kids, and grandkids. She loved cooking for family get-togethers. She really enjoyed decorating her house for holidays.
 
Survivors include loving husband of 43 years Dave Perkins; sons Jason (Wendy) of Scottsbluff, NE and Justin (Shannon) of Rapid City, SD; daughter Jennifer (Curt) of Scottsbluff, NE; grandchildren Jared, Shazlyn, Jayden, Isaac, Kyra, and Jay; father Gene Brice of Hay Springs, NE; brothers Lyle (Trudy) of Sheridan, WY and Rick (Donna) of Chadron, NE; sister Donna (Bob) of Hay Springs, NE; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
 
Preceding her in death was mother Bonnie Brice and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
Chamberlain Chapel is in charge of arrangements for Sandra June Perkins.
