Funeral services for Marlene Ruth Red Elk-Tools, age 59, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Richard Moves Camp.
Burial will be at 2:30 PM on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD.
Marlene was a veteran in the U.S. Army.
Marlene was born on September 25, 1956 in Wanblee, SD to Steven Red Elk and Vivian Chips. She passed away on February 13, 2016 at the Fort Meade VA Hospital in Sturgis, SD.
Marlene is survived by spouse Burnell Tools of Rosebud, SD; son Warren Tools of Interior, SD; brothers Ernest Red Elk, Calvin Red Elk, and Howard Red Elk, all of Wanblee, SD; sister Rosalie Red Elk of Wanblee, SD; goddaughters Antonette Wounded Head of Porcupine, SD and Tiana Stevens of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by parents Stephen and Vivian (Chips) Red Elk; brothers Sonny Red Elk, William Red Elk, Roger Red Elk, and Harlan Red Elk; and sisters Lydia Red Elk and Marlene White Elk.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Marlene Ruth Red Elk-Tools.
