Funeral services for Andre Curtis Janis Jr. “Wanbli Cikala,” age 19, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD with Father Chris Johnson, S.J. officiating.
Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night at 12:00 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church Hall in Manderson, SD. The second night will start at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD.
Andre was born on September 29, 1996 in Rapid City, SD to Andre Janis Sr. and Carletta Jumping Eagle. Andre made his journey to the Spirit World on February 20, 2016 near Pine Ridge, SD.
Andre is survived by father Andre Janis Sr. of Wounded Knee, SD; mother Carletta Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD; stepmother Martha Protector of Wounded Knee, SD; son Dre’ Sioux White Plume-Janis of Manderson, SD; brothers Carl Janis, Christian Janis, Maurice Jumping Eagle, Wanbli Jumping Eagle, and Cole Villareal, all of Manderson, SD; sisters Andrea Janis-Jumping Eagle, Brynda Janis, and Carteecia Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD, Jacqueline Randall of Rapid City, SD, Tamera Randall and Kimberly Big Crow of Pine Ridge, SD, and Ashlee Randall of Wounded Knee, SD; grandmother Brynda Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD; great-grandmother Mildred Thunder Bull-Billy of Kyle, SD; aunts Elena Kindness of Harding, MT, Sheila Janis of Minneapolis, MN, Pam Janis of Wanblee, SD, and Angie Prue, Rosie Lip, and Alicia Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD; uncles Rico Iron Bear and John Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Andre was preceded in death by sister Angel Rose Jumping Eagle-Janis; grandfather Curtis C. Janis; and grandmother Jean Janis.
