Funeral services for Virgil James Iron Crow, age 62, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD with Father Rick Abert, S.J., Deacon Harold Condon, and Pastor Elton Yellow Boy officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Darla Black.
Burial will be at St. Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery in Kyle, SD.
A two-night wake services will start at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD.
Virgil was born on September 2, 1953 in Rapid City, SD to Garfield Iron Crow Sr. and Jennie Chief Bear-Leonard. He made his journey to the Spirit World on February 22, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Virgil is survived by wife Carmelita Iron Crow of Kyle, SD; children and stepchildren James Iron Hawk of Kyle, SD, Ben Iron Hawk of Mission, SD, Jennifer Iron Hawk of Kyle, SD, Leann Iron Hawk of Rapid City, SD, Dana Fire Thunder of Kyle, SD, and Renaee Fire Thunder of Rapid City, SD; brothers Garfield Iron Crow Jr., Elwin Brave Heart, Eli Brave Heart, Aloysius Brave Heart, Anthony Brave Heart and Myron Brave Heart, all of Kyle, SD, and Keith Secola and Darrell Lister of Phoenix, AZ; sisters Mercy Iron Crow, Arlene Iron Crow, Marlene Brave Heart, and Anita Brave Heart, all of Kyle, SD, Suzie Brave Heart of Rapid City, SD, and Susan Norris of Flagstaff, AZ; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Virgil was preceded in death by parents Garfield Iron Crow Sr. and Jennie Chief Bear-Leonard; stepfather Alfonso Brave Heart; grandfathers Ben Leonard and Rueben Iron Crow; and grandmother Minnie Charging Crow-Packed.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Virgil James Iron Crow.
