Funeral services for Kerry Lynn Peters “A’ena Ki ya pi Sni Win” (They Don’t Give Up On Her), age 34, will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Wakpamni CAP Office in Pine Ridge, SD with Marei Kingi officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Steven DuBray Sr.
Burial will be at the Brown Eyes Tiwahe Cemetery in Slim Buttes, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Pine Ridge Gospel Fellowship Church in Pine Ridge, SD. The second night will begin at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Wakpamni CAP Office in Pine Ridge, SD.
Kerry was born on January 17, 1982 in Pine Ridge, SD to William Thomas Peters and Lena (Piper) Peters. She began her journey to the Spirit World on February 23, 2016 near Chadron, NE.
Kerry is survived by parents William and Lena Peters of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers Justin Lee Peters of Rapid City, SD and Jesse Lee Peters of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters Kelly Raye Peters and Keesa Jo Peters of Pine Ridge, SD; aunts and uncles Phillip Piper, Marlene Piper, Chanblis He Crow, Donny Peters, Mary Woodard, and Renee Standing Soldier of Rapid City, SD, Michael Piper of Hot Springs, SD, Belva Thunder Hawk, Priscilla Hill, and Jennifer Cottier of Pine Ridge, SD, Judy Zuniga of Lincoln, NE, Betty Jo Peters of Martin, SD, and Annette Peters of San Bernardino, CA; nieces and nephews Jaydin, Jontay, JaReem, Keylee Shaye, J Rake, KyMani Louella, and JaLyssa Monroe; and numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.
Kerry was preceded in death by grandparents Jacob & Ora Peters, Aloysius Piper, Louella Brown Eyes, and Joe Brown Eyes; nephew Quannah William Peters; aunt Amelia Peters, uncles Richard Peters and Robert Thunder Hawk; and cousins Kayla Lou Matthews, Ohinniyan Wicacpi Peters, and Dominic DeOlles.
