Funeral services for Lakota Sky Iron Boy-Jumping Eagle “Wicincala Canku Wakan Akanl Mani,” age 3, will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with Reverend Harold Eagle Bull officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Dave Swallow, Michael Cross, Nyla Swallow, Martha Rossman, Babbette Thin Elk and Freida Big Road. Special speaker will be JoAnn Tall.
Burial will be at the Swallow Family Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD.
Lakota was born on August 14, 2013 in Pine Ridge, SD to Ronald Jumping Eagle Jr. and Jody Iron Boy. She passed away on February 27, 2016 in Pine Ridge, SD.
Lakota is survived by mother Jody Iron Boy of Porcupine, SD; father Ronald Jumping Eagle Jr. of Manderson, SD; brother Mato Cika Poor Bear-Jumping Eagle of Scottsbluff, NE; sisters Nancy Jumping Eagle and Raquel Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD; grandparents Twila and Marvin Iron Boy of Porcupine, SD, Ron Jumping Eagle Sr. of Manderson, SD, and Darla Black of Pine Ridge, SD; great-grandparents Pauline Palmer of Pine Ridge, SD and Dave and Nyla Swallow of Porcupine, SD.
Lakota was preceded in death by great-grandparents Vern Long Black Cat, Aloysius and Bernice Tail, and Rebecca Jumping Eagle.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Lakota Sky Iron Boy-Jumping Eagle “Wicincala Canku Wakan Akanl Mani.”
