Funeral services for 92-year old Edna Blue Bird-Apple will be held Saturday afternoon (March 12) at 3:00 in Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge with Mr. Charles McGaa officiating and traditional Lakota servings by Mr. Michael Little Boy

Burial will be in the  Holy Rosary Mission Catholic Cemetery in Pine Ridge

Two night wake services will be held at Billy Mills Hall starting today (Thurs) at 3:00 PM

Edna Blue Bird-Apple was born on March 16, 1923 in Pine Ridge, SD to Robert Baptist-Blue Bird-Grabbing Bear and Julia (Hornbeck) Blue Bird-Grabbing Bear.  Edna passed away on March 7, 2016 in North Platte, NE.

Edna is survived by her children, Jerry Bear Shield of Rapid City, SD, Juliana (Floriberto) (Water) Parra Munoz of North Platte, NE, Robert Red Shirt Sr., Darrell Spotted Elk, Theresa (John Cauldwell) Water and Darrell Blue Bird, all of Pine Ridge, SD; adopted grandchildren, Carol Differ of Oregon and Harry Whelan of New York; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Baptist-Blue Bird-Grabbing Bear and Julia (Hornbeck) Blue Bird-Grabbing Bear; sisters, Dorothy American Horse, Theresa Blue Bird, Emily King, Myrtle Kathryn, Agatha Belle; brothers, Howard and Bryan Blue Bird; son, Antoine Blue Bird; nephew, Francis Grabbing Bear; grandson, Ruben Fernandez, Floriberto Parra Munoz Jr.; granddaughters, Emma Becenti-Parra Munoz, Victoria Grass, Veronica Edna Red Shirt and Emily Blue Bird; and great-grandson, Gilbert Lakota III.
