Funeral services for Marie Red Cloud, age 88, will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Pine Ridge Middle School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Darla Black.
Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Pine Ridge Middle School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD.
Marie was born on August 15, 1927 in Pine Ridge, SD to George Plenty Wolf (Thomas Brown Eyes) and Julie Dirt Kettle. She passed away on March 13, 2016 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.
Marie is survived by daughters Gloria Red Cloud, Toni Red Cloud, Bette (Skip) Red Cloud, and Bobbi Red Cloud-Phelps, all of Pine Ridge, SD, and Marie Red Owl of Porcupine, SD.
Marie was preceded in death by parents George Plenty Wolf (Thomas Brown Eyes) and Julie Dirt Kettle; husband Melvin Red Cloud; eldest daughter Barbara Red Cloud-Jones; sisters Celeste Brings and Irene Plenty Wolf; brother Basil Plenty Wolf; nephew Basil Plenty Wolf Jr.; great-grandson Floyd Rouillard III; and son-in-laws Tonto Black Bear, Lionel Iron Moccasin Sr., and Christopher Phelps.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Marie Red Cloud.
