03/19/2016 - Aleta Denise Cutgrass
Funeral services for Aleta Denise Cutgrass, age 62, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Woyatan Lutheran Church in Rapid City, SD with Pastor Elton Yellow Boy officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Waylon Gaddie and Julius Not Afraid.
Burial will be held at a later date.
A two-night wake service will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Woyatan Lutheran Church in Rapid City, SD.
Aleta was born on May 10, 1953 in Rosebud, SD to Francis Eagle Tail Sr. and Philomena (Quick Bear) Gun Hammer. She passed away on March 11, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Aleta is survived by mother Philomena (Quick Bear) Gun Hammer; husband Milbert “Ed” Cutgrass; sons Daniel Yazzie and Rocky Yazzie of Rapid City, SD; daughters Dulce Cutgrass, Deanna Cutgrass, Amber Cutgrass, and Ashley Cutgrass of Rapid City, SD, Aleta Rodriguez of Modesto, CA, Sonya Bayona of Newark, NJ and Wendy Cutgrass of Oklahoma; brothers Francis Eagle Tail Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD and Johnny Eagle Tail of Rapid City, SD; brother-in-law Garlan Not Afraid of Allen, SD; sisters Neaita Simmons of Albuquerque, NM and Paula Eagle Tail of Citrus Heights, CA; Hunka sisters Isabelle Gaddie, Felice DuBray and Carmel DuBray of Allen, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Aleta was preceded in death by father Francis Eagle Tail Sr.; son David Yazzie; daughter Della Cutgrass; brother Walter Eagle Tail; and sister Alta Eagle Tail.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Aleta Denise Cutgrass.
