Funeral services for Geneva Spider-Richards “WaCante Ognaka Win,” age 77, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD with Reverend Emerson Spider Jr. officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Kirk Fool Bull.
Burial will be at the Native American Church Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium in Porcupine, SD.
Geneva was born on May 31, 1938 at her home in Porcupine, SD to Reverend Oliver Paul Spider and Jessie Ruth (Black Bear) Spider. She made her journey to the Spirit World on March 23, 2016 at RegionalWestMedicalCenter in Scottsbluff, NE.
Geneva is survived by daughters Wanda (William Lone Elk), Janice, Blanche (Pete Swift Bird Jr.), Faith, and Holly, all of Porcupine, SD, Connie (Brian White Crane) of Scottsbluff, NE, and Norma (Mervin Sliver) of Phoenix, AZ; sons Ronald (Denise Richards), Mark, Bill Jr., and Issac (Gloria Lays Bad), all of Porcupine, SD, Travis (Tamera Richards) of Rapid City, SD, Damien of Alliance, NE, and Duane (Daeda Lays Bad) of Fort Hall, ID; sister Agne Plenty Bull of Potato Creek, SD; hunka daughter Juanita Witt of Porcupine, SD; hunka son Curtis White Crane; 58 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Geneva was preceded in death by father Reverend Oliver Paul Spider; mother Jessie Ruth Spider; spouse William Richards Sr.; brothers Emerson and Melvin; sister Pauline; sons Austin and Jodi; grandsons Melvin and Bailey; great-grandson Jerrell Francis Richards; and hunka daughters Helen Lays Bad and Virginia Cordova.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Geneva Spider-Richards “WaCante Ognaka Win.”
