Funeral services for Clarence “Sime” Simones of Chadron, NE will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Stoner officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Chadron.

Clarence passed away on March 16, 2016 in Chadron, NE. He was born at home in Warren, PA to Fred and Gladys Simones. He attended schools in Warren, PA. He graduated high school in 1955 and then Paul Smith’s College near Lake Placid, NY with a degree in forestry in 1958.
On July 18, 1959 he married Mary Ann Simones in Warren, PA.
He began his career in forestry with the Forest Service upon graduation. In 1957, he was on the Allegheny National Forest, then transferred to Staunton, VA. In 1962, he worked on the George Washington National Forest and then was transferred to Coeburn, VA. In 1965, on the Jefferson National Forest where he worked as the Work Program Officer, the year Job Corps opened at the Coburn Job Corps Center in Coburn, VA. He transferred to a Ranger Station in Paulina, OR in 1968 on the Ochoco National Forest where he ran the fire control operations and special programs and then transferred to Klamath Falls, OR in 1970 on the Winema National Forest, again working mainly in fire control and various special programs. In 1976, he relocated to Chadron, again running the Works Programs at the Job Corps until he retired in 1992. During his time working at the Pine Ridge Job Corps, he coached wrestling and was given the name of “Mr. Job Corps.” He was one of the first to be inducted into the Job Corps Hall of Fame.
He was given the honor of being the Jaycee of the Year in Klamath Falls, OR because of his involvement in many community activities. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed the outdoors and ran his own snow removal/lawn service until his death. He coached the Knights of Columbus Little League baseball team for a number of years, having undefeated seasons. He then coached a Babe Ruth team, having successful seasons and being invited to take his team to Canada. He always attended whatever sporting events his children participated in, no matter where or when they were.
He loved everyone, especially the children and young people in the community and was known as the 8th street Grandpa. For many years, he was “Santa” at various activities and visiting individual homes on Christmas Eve.
He is survived by wife Mary Ann of Chadron; sons John of Caldwell of Idaho, Bill of Chadron, and Robert; daughters Cindy of Chadron, Dawn of Covington, WA, and Shannon of Tacoma, WA; sisters Emogene of Wattsburg, NY, Carol of Haberton, ID, and Alice of San Diego, CA; brother Francis of Portland, OR; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
He was an avid fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and the Pirates.
